Q:
Why is the space named "Gold Rush"? A:
Because the events that are triggered when a player lands on a Gold Rush space
are similar to the phenomenon of the California Gold Rush in 1849. Q:
What is the Gold Rush sign that lies inside each cave used for? A:
This sign is used to guide players into the mine during a Gold Rush. Q:
What is the large "X" symbol that lies at the end of each cave? A:
This is a marker where players place their tokens during a Gold Rush. Q:
Do I have to follow the instructions on the Gold Rush space when I land? A:
Yes. Q: Do I follow the instructions
on the Gold Mine space during a Gold Rush? A:
No. The instructions on the Gold Mine space are followed only when you land on
a Gold Mine space either with your roll or through a Bulls & Bears card. Q:
Can a Gold Rush occur with only ONE free player? A:
No. At least TWO free players are required. Q:
What is a "free" player? A: A free
player is one that is not trapped in the Gold Mine. Q:
What happens during a Gold Rush? A:
All free players advance to the nearest Gold Mine and enter deep into the mine.
Each player in turn rolls the die to DIG for Gold. The player(s) with the highest
roll Strikes Gold and receives ONE Gold Strike token. Q:
What happens when the Gold Rush is over? A:
All free players exit the mine and continue the game from the Gold Mine space
where they originally entered. The game continues with the next player that follows
the one who started the Gold Rush. Q:
What happens when two or more players roll the same number during a Gold Rush? A:
Players who roll the same number are trapped in a Cave In [See "Special Conditions"]. Q:
What happens if there is only one free player available after a Cave In and that
player lands on a Gold Rush space? A:
If there is only one free player available after a Cave In, a Gold Rush cannot
occur because at least two players are required. The free player must rush [forward
or backward] to the nearest Gold Mine and rescue the trapped players. The HERO
automatically finds the listed number of Gold Nuggets. Q:
How many Gold Nuggets is a Gold Strike worth?
A: A Gold Strike is worth 10 Gold Nuggets. Q:
Where do I sell the Gold Strikes that I find? A:
You may sell them when you land on any Gold Exchange Market
[GEM] space. You can also sell them to another player for a negotiable price at
anytime. Q: What happens
if the Bank runs out of Gold Strike tokens? A:
If this condition ever occurs, instruct the Broker/Banker to record your find
and provide you with the token(s) as soon as they become available. However, you
may sell your Gold when you land on a GEM Space even if you do not have the token(s),
as long as you recorded your find. Q:
How do we keep track of players' rolls during a Gold Rush when there are many
players in the game? A: The easiest
method is to call out the numbers from 1 to 12 and ask the players to raise their
hand when the number they rolled is called. If more than one player raises their
hand when a given number is called these players are "Trapped Together" in a Cave
In and their Player Tokens are "Grouped Together" inside the mine, accordingly. Q:
What's an example of a Gold Rush where no one is trapped? A:
Suppose Mary, Mark, Maggie, and Matthew are free and Mark lands on a Gold Rush
space. All four players "Rush Forward" to the nearest Gold Mine and enter. Mary
rolls a 9; Mark rolls a 4; Maggie rolls an 11; and Matthew rolls a 2. Since Maggie
rolled the highest she Strikes Gold and gets one Gold Strike token. Q:
What's an example of a Gold Rush where some players are trapped?
A: Suppose Mary, Mark, Maggie, and Matthew are free and Mary lands on a
Gold Rush space. All four players "Rush Forward" to the nearest Gold Mine and
enter. Mary rolls a 7; Mark rolls a 2; Maggie rolls a 5; and Matthew rolls a 7.
Mary and Matthew are "Trapped Together" in a Cave In because they both rolled
the same and neither one has a Rock Wrecker. Since Mary and Matthew also rolled
the highest; they Strike Gold and each of them gets one Gold Strike token. Q:
What's an example of a Gold Rush where all players are trapped? A:
Suppose Mary, Mark, Maggie, and Matthew are free and Maggie lands on a Gold Rush
space. All four players "Rush Forward" to the nearest Gold Mine and enter. Mary
rolls a 3; Mark rolls a 12; Maggie rolls a 3; and Matthew rolls a 12. Mary and
Maggie are "Trapped Together" in a Cave In because they both rolled the same.
Mark and Matthew are "Trapped Together" because they both rolled the same also.
Since all players are trapped and neither of them has a Rock Wrecker the Game
is Over because there are no free players available for rescue. |
