Q: What is a Gold Mine?
A: A Gold Mine is an excavation (hole) in the earth that contains Gold.

Q: What is Gold Mining?
A: Gold Mining is the process of extracting Gold from a Mine.

Q: Do I have to mine for Gold when I land on a Gold Mine space?
A: Yes.

Q: Why is a Gold Bag pictured on each Gold Mine space?
A: Historically, Gold Miners carried their "Finds" in cloth bags similar to the one shown on each space.

Q: Why is the mountain in the center of the Game Board called "Aurum"?
A: "Aurum" is the Latin word for "GOLD". Aurum Mountain consists of four interconnecting caves rich in GOLD. Each Gold Mine space serves as an entrance to one of the four caves that comprise the mine.

Q: Is there a name for the distinctive shape and appearance of Aurum Mountain? If so, what is it and what is the history behind it?
A: Yes. The shape of Aurum Mountain is historically known as St. Brigid's Cross. This fascinating and uniquely shaped cross was named after St. Brigid who lived in Ireland around the middle of the fifth century. She used the Cross, which she wove out of rushes, to convert a dying king to Christianity.

Q: What happens when I land on a Gold Mine Space?
A: You roll the numbered die to DIG for Gold. This is equivalent to "Surface Mining" or "Panning" for Gold; that is why you only find Gold Nuggets. The "Richer Finds" are located deeper inside the Mine; and they are found only during a Gold Rush!

Q: What happens when I roll an EVEN number (2, 4, 6, 8, 10, or 12)?
A: You find the listed number of Gold Nuggets (1, 2, 3, or 4). In other words, You receive the appropriate number of tokens from the Bank.

Q: What happens when I roll an ODD number (1, 3, 5, 7, 9, or 11)?
A: You pay a $1,000 Mining Fee to the Bank.

Q: Where do I sell the Gold Nuggets that I find?
A: You may sell them when you land on any Gold Exchange Market [GEM] space. You can also sell them to another player for a negotiable price at anytime.

Q: What happens if the Bank runs out of Gold Nugget tokens?
A: If this condition ever occurs, instruct the Broker/Banker to record the number of Gold Nuggets you found and provide you with the tokens as soon as they become available. However, you may sell your Gold when you land on a GEM space even if you do not have the tokens, as long as you recorded your find.

Q: What's an example of a player who lands on a Gold Mine and finds Gold?
A: Suppose Amy lands on the Gold Mine space next to Pay Margin Interest. She rolls an 8. Since 8 is EVEN she collects 3 Gold Nugget tokens from the Bank.

Q: What's an example of a player who lands on a Gold Mine and finds nothing?
A: Suppose Michael lands on the Gold Mine space next to Give To Charity. He rolls a 1. Since 1 is ODD he finds nothing and pays a $1,000 Mining Fee.
