Q: What is the Gold Exchange Market?
A: The Gold Exchange Market, also known as "GEM" for short, is where you sell the Gold that you have mined.

Q: Do I have to sell my Gold when I land on a Gold Exchange Market space?
A: No. Selling your Gold is optional.

Q: What is a Commodity?
A: A Commodity is any article that is bought and sold.

Q: Is Gold a Commodity?
A: Yes. It is one of the most valuable Commodities on Earth.

Q: Can I buy Gold when I land on a GEM space?
A: No. You may only sell Gold.

Q: Can I trade Gold with other players?
A: Yes. You may trade Gold with other players at anytime. However, etiquette suggests you do so on your turn or between turns.

Q: What happens when I land on a GEM space?
A: If you own Gold you roll the die to get a QUOTE on the price of Gold. You may sell any amount of Gold you wish using this QUOTE. If you don't like the QUOTE you must wait until you land on a GEM space again to get another QUOTE.

Q: What System do I use to sell my Gold?
A: After you roll the die to get a QUOTE on the price of Gold, you collect money according to the following system:

Gold Nugget:
100 x Roll
Gold Strike:1,000 x Roll
Mother Lode:10,000 x Roll

 



Q: What's an example of a player landing on a GEM space and selling Gold?
A: Suppose you have 5 Gold Nuggets and 1 Gold Strike. You roll a QUOTE of 8. You decide to sell your Nuggets only and collect $4,000 [100 x 8 x 5].

Q: What happens if I need to sell Gold to raise cash for a payment and I am not on a GEM space?
A: You may try selling to another player and negotiate for the best price. If no other player is willing to buy your Gold then you must sell your Gold to the Bank at the lowest price:

Gold Nugget:
$100
Gold Strike:$1,000
Mother Lode:$10,000

 



Q: What's an example of a player selling their Gold to another player in order to raise cash for a payment?
A: Suppose George lands on Bulls & Bears and must lease a Rock Wrecker. He must pay the Bank $1,000. He has only $300 in cash, but he also has several Gold Nuggets. George negotiates with Maurice and sells him two Gold Nuggets for $700. Finally, George has enough cash and pays the Bank $1,000 to lease the Rock Wrecker.

Q: What's an example of a player selling their Gold to the Bank at the lowest price to make a payment?
A: Suppose you land on Dress For Success and you roll a 10. You must buy Clothes for $1,000 [100 x 10]. Now suppose all you have is 2 Gold Strikes. Moreover, no player is willing to buy your Gold. You must sell 1 Gold Strike to the Bank at the lowest price [$1,000] and receive 1 Product Token.
