Q: What is a Company Rumor?
A: A Company Rumor is an unreliable report that has the potential of affecting a given Company. The rumor may be good or bad and it may be true or false. The actual source is always questionable while the rumor is alive and circulating.

Q: Why is this space named "Company Rumor"?
A: Because every Company Rumor originates from this space. Moreover, once a Company Rumor is alive, every player that lands upon or passes this space affects the given Company and helps to further spread the rumor.

Q: Is Company Rumor a Secondary Trade space?
A: Yes. Any trade you make when you land on this space is a Secondary Trade.

Q: Is the couple portrayed in the Company Rumor space the same as the couple in the Market Rumor space?
A: This is a mystery!

Q: How does a Company Rumor begin?
A: In this game, a Company Rumor always begins with a "WHISPER". The first Whisper occurs when a player lands on the Company Rumor space. The rumor immediately becomes widespread and known to all players.

Q: What is the Company Rumor card?
A: The Company Rumor Card contains specific instructions for generating a "New Company Rumor". The four steps in the instructions must be followed in the listed order.

Q: What happens when I land on the Company Rumor space and the Company Rumor card is there?
A: The "Rumor is New" and you must follow the instructions on the Company Rumor card.

Step 1: Turn over the top Company News card and place it face-up on top of the deck. Do not follow the instructions on the card. The Rumor is now alive! Step 2: Make sure the Yellow Peg is in the Zero slot. Step 3: You may now "Trade on the Rumor" [Secondary Trade]. Step 4: Flip the Company Rumor card over and place it on Dispel Company Rumor.

Q: If I land on Company Rumor and I "Trade on the Rumor" is this considered a Secondary Trade?
A: Yes. If you "Trade on the Rumor" by following the instructions on the Company Rumor card [Step 3], it is a Secondary Trade.

Q: What's an example of a player landing on the Company Rumor space and the Company Rumor card is there?
A: Suppose Mary rolls the die and lands on Company Rumor and the Company Rumor card is there. The "Rumor is New" and she must follow the instructions on the Company Rumor card. She turns over the top Company News card and places it face-up on top of the deck and makes sure the Yellow Peg is in the Zero slot. She buys 100 shares of Amethyst [A] because the rumor is GOOD [action on top Company News card is Green]. Finally, she flips the Company Rumor card over and places it on Dispel Company Rumor. The rumor is now alive and Mary is the first player to "Trade on the Rumor".

Q: What happens when I land on the Company Rumor space and the Company Rumor card is not there?
A: The "Rumor Exists" and you must affect the given Company with your roll when you land. The Company is affected as follows:

Step 1: If the action on the top Company News card is:

GREEN – the "Rumor is Good" and you must move the Stock UP with your roll when you land;

RED – the "Rumor is Bad" and you must move the Stock DOWN with your roll when you land.

Step 2: Move the Company Rumor Peg up one slot.

Q: What's an example of a player landing on the Company Rumor space and the Company Rumor card is not there?
A: Suppose George rolls a 7 and lands on Company Rumor and the Company Rumor card is not there. Now, suppose the action on the top Company News card is RED and concerns Amethyst [A]. Since the "Rumor Exists" and it is BAD, George moves Amethyst [A] DOWN by 7 points. He then moves up the Yellow Peg from Zero to 1. Finally, George makes a Secondary Trade and sells 100 shares of Amethyst [A] because the rumor is BAD.

Q: What happens when I pass the Company Rumor space and the Company Rumor card is not there?
A: The "Rumor Exists" and you must affect the given Company with your roll as you pass. The Company is affected as follows:

Step 1: If the action on the top Company News card is:

GREEN – the "Rumor is Good" and you must move the Stock UP with your roll as you pass;

RED – the "Rumor is Bad" and you must move the Stock DOWN with your roll as you pass.

Step 2: Move the Company Rumor Peg up one slot.

Q: What's an example of a player passing the Company Rumor space and the Company Rumor card is not there?
A: Suppose Rose rolls a 9 and lands on D UP while passing the Company Rumor space and the Company Rumor card is not there. Moreover, suppose the action on the top Company News card is Green, and concerns Diamond [D]. Since the Rumor is Alive and GOOD, she moves the Stock UP 9 points and advances the Yellow Peg from 1 to 2. Now Rose follows the instructions for the D UP space and moves D UP again; "Diamond is on a roll".

Q: What happens when I pass the Company Rumor space and the Company Rumor card is there?
A: Nothing. If the Company Rumor card is there when you pass then there is no rumor to affect any company.

Q: What happens if I am sent to the Company Rumor space by a Bulls & Bears card?
A: If the "Rumor is New", you must follow the instructions on the Company Rumor card. If the "Rumor is Alive", do not affect the given Company. However, you may trade.

Q: How do I know when a Company Rumor exists [alive]?
A: There are three signs: The "Company Rumor Couple" is revealed [Rumor card was removed]; the top Company News card is face-up; the Dispel Company Rumor card is revealed.

Q: What is the Yellow Company Rumor Peg used for?
A: The Peg is used to count the number of times the rumor affects the given Company.

Q: How is the Company Rumor Peg used to count the number of times the rumor affects the given Company?
A: The Peg is initially placed in the Zero slot. When a rumor is alive [exists], the Peg is moved up one slot each time a player lands upon or passes the Company Rumor space.

Q: If a Company Rumor is alive when I pass the Company Rumor space, do I affect the given Company before following the instructions of the space I land upon?
A: Yes. You must affect the given Company with your roll before following the instructions of the space you land upon.

Q: If a Company Rumor is alive and the given Stock is halted do I affect the halted Stock when I land upon or pass the Company Rumor space?
A: Yes. If the Rumor is GOOD, the halted Stock resumes trading at the price equal to your roll when you land upon or pass the Company Rumor space. However, if the Rumor is BAD, the given Company becomes Bankrupt and the Stock no longer trades for the rest of the game.

Q: Does a Company Rumor affect a Bankrupt Company?
A: No. Once a Company becomes Bankrupt it can never resume trading for the remainder of the game.

Q: Who is responsible for making sure the Stock Price of the given Company is up-to-date?
A: All players have the responsibility of keeping the Stock Price up-to-date by making sure the given Company is affected appropriately.

Q: How do I know if the Rumor affected the given Company?
A: If the Yellow Company Rumor Peg is not in the Zero slot then the Rumor affected the given Company. The position of the Peg shows the number of times the given Company was affected.

Q: How does a Company Rumor end?
A: A Company Rumor usually ends when it is either "Confirmed" or "Dispelled". When this happens the Rumor no longer exists.

Q: How is a Company Rumor "Confirmed"?
A: A Company Rumor is "Confirmed" when a player lands on the Company News space. When this happens the Rumor no longer exists.

Q: How is a Company Rumor "Dispelled"?
A: A Company Rumor is "Dispelled" when a player lands on the Dispel Company Rumor space. When this happens the Rumor no longer exists.
