Q:
What are the Company News cards? A:
There are 36 Company News cards. The instructions on these cards must be followed
when a player lands on the Company News space. They contain business information
that affects individual companies. Q:
Why is this space named "Company News"? A:
Because the news on the cards affects individual companies. In other words, each
news card affects only one of the four companies that comprise the Stock Market. Q:
Is Company News a Secondary Trade space? A:
Yes. Any trade you make when you land on this space is a Secondary Trade. Q:
What happens when I land on Company News? A:
You pick the top card and read it aloud. Follow the instructions on the card.
Replace the card face-down to the bottom of the deck when you are done. Q:
What happens when I land on Company News and a Company Rumor exists? A:
You pick the top face-up card and read it aloud. Follow the instructions on the
card. Replace the card face-down to the bottom of the deck when you are done.
If a Company Rumor exists then this news "Confirms The Rumor" and you must flip
the Dispel Company Rumor card over and return it to the Company Rumor space. Moreover,
if the Rumor affected the given company you must return the Company Rumor Peg
to the ZERO slot. Q: How
does the News affect the given Company? A:
There are four possible actions that affect the given Company: Company
Up: | Move the Stock UP by 2 x Roll | | Company
Down: | Move the Stock DOWN by 2 x Roll | | Company
Skyrockets!: | Double the price of the Stock | | Company
Crash!: | Cut the price of the Stock in half |
Q:
What's an example of a Company Up card? A:
Suppose you land on Company News and pick an Amethyst Up card. Now suppose A =
75 before the news. You roll a 5. You must move Amethyst UP 10 points [2 x 5].
Now A = 85. Since Company News is a Secondary Trade space, you may trade after
you move A UP 10 points.
Q:
What's an example of a Company Down card? A:
Suppose you land on Company News and pick a Beryl Down card. Now suppose B = 20
before the news. You roll a 12. You must move Beryl DOWN 24 points [2 x 12]. Since
the 24 point decline is more than the current price of Beryl [20], Beryl falls
to ZERO and trading in the Stock is Halted until further notice. B = 0 [Halted].
Since Company News is a Secondary Trade space, you may trade after Beryl is Halted.
However, you cannot trade Beryl or any other Halted Stock. Q:
What's an example of a Company Skyrockets! card? A:
Suppose you land on Company News and pick a Carnelian Skyrockets! card. Now suppose
C = 230 before the news. You must DOUBLE the price of Carnelian. Now C = 460.
Since Company News is a Secondary Trade space, you may trade after you double
the price of Carnelian. Q:
What's an example of a Company Crash! card? A:
Suppose you land on Company News and pick a Diamond Crash! card. Now suppose D
= 99 before the news. You must CUT the price of Diamond in half. Now D = 50. Since
Company News is a Secondary Trade space, you may trade after Diamond Crashes. Note:
Since the price of Diamond was ODD before the Crash; you must add 1 to 99 before
you divide by 2 [99 + 1 = 100; 100 ÷ 2 = 50]. |
